PATAGONIA'S ERNESTO: Patagonia’s Ernesto is a magnificent light brown compact herdsire that improves every dam to her fullest potential. Before I purchased Ernesto, I bred numerous females to this dynamic male just to see what he could do. I discovered that I could take an average dam, breed her to Ernesto, and voila, he would produce a stunning offspring. This feat was proven when we had hundreds of the females assessed with their juvenile crias. Time and time again, the cria scored better than the dam so I knew I had something special going on with this male and one way to obtain improvement in the production of our breeding program. In many ways, Patagonia’s Ernesto has surpassed his one of a kind sire, Patagonia’s Lennox, and what Lennox has been able to achieve in his life-time. Ernesto’s dam, R&RR Irishea, is a light fawn from Ruth and Rodney Elvestad’s Canadian breeding program whose goal was to have lasting fine fleece, yet have the fleece to be the ultimate in density as well. Ruth operates Olds College in Canada working with fiber. Irishea is out of one of my very favorite males, CAVA Guivar Zorro, a true black import. Ernesto has multiple traits ranking in the top 5% EPDs in 2024. He has many good breeding years left and would love to have the opportunity to prove it! PATAGONIA'S ALLEGRA Allegra is sired by Nishio, the 2004 All-American Herdsire of the Year and the 2007 Reserve All-American Herdsire of the Year. Nishio has an exquisite black fleece, which is extremely dense and full of high frequency crimp. Nishio's offspring have incredible fleeces and their achievements in the showring are impressive. Her paternal grandsire, El Padre is one of the top herd sires at Alpacas de la Patagonia, and is successfully passing on his extreme density to all of his offspring. El Padre has sired some of the nation's top studs in service, Kaspa and Nishio, who are also well known of their classy progeny. Allegra was awarded the Brown Color Champion banner and Blue ribbon (Fleece) at the 2008 AOBA National Alpaca Show. She also received Blue ribbons in halter class at the 2007 MAPACA Jubilee, 2006 AOBA National Alpaca Show, 2006 Buckeye Alpaca Show, and 2006 Alpacapalooza, as well as numerous other ribbons! Offspring: On 6/8/2009, Allegra gave birth to PATAGONIA'S CHIEF, a stunning true black male sired by the legendary multi-champion, Patagonia’s Lennox. Chief is a 4x champion and multiple blue ribbon winner who is now a true black top-sire on our ranch. On 8/20/2013, Allegra had PATAGONIA'S PERFECTION, a gorgeous dark fawn female sired by 8x champion, Patagonia’s Ernesto. Perfection won a Color Champion banner and blue ribbon at the 2014 CABA Classic, and another blue ribbon at the MAPACA Jubilee in 2014. On 8/1/2014, Allegra gave us PATAGONIA ESTATES ARTISAN, a beautiful dark fawn female also sired by multi-champion, Patagonia’s Ernesto. Artisan received a 4th Place ribbon (out of a class of 7) at her only show - the 2016 AOA National Show. On 9/8/2015, Allegra presented us with ESTATES GRACEFUL ALLEGRETTO, a lovely beige female sired by 4x champion, Patagonia’s El Galan.
