Update: Primus is a grey maker! He has made grey even with brown and bay black girls without the grey parents. He has also made gorgeous blacks. One just born from a bay black girl looks just like him. He was born on August 1st 2024. Color Champion at 41.5 mths!! Judges have really liked him but CC has been going to the much younger animals. The fact that he is still so soft with consistency and long staple AS A BREEDER along with perfect conformation was appreciated! See his stats. only 2.6 micron difference between min and max micron!!! Primus has a very buttery handle to his fleece due to the consistency of his fine fiber and density. His yarn is incredibly soft-like a white cria fleece! His sire BMF Taos Zepplin is known for putting out blacks. He was the 2013 AOBA Black Male Fleece Champion. His histogram stats are very impressive starting with a 15.7 AFD and a 2.8 S.D. on his first fleece and at 5 yrs old still had a 20.4 micron and a CV of 19.9. I fell in love with PHA Peruvian Taos (his sire) when he was here in Wisconsin. Judge stated at the recent MOPACA show that he was a very close second and was very impressed with his long, healthy fleece that hand an excellent handle, something not often seen in greys to that extent. He has been showing as a 40 mth old this year and has had very limited competition yet had super nice comments from the judges that included "I doubt that there is a more robust male out there", "very little difference in micron throughout fleece", "perfect phenotype", "extreme staple especially given his age". Primus' first offspring is a black male from a black female. Super fine, dense fleece! Primus is going back to Nationals in 2020. He'll be 4 yrs and 4 mths old (52 mths) but I honestly can't see that his fleece has changed in the last 2 yrs! We have bred him a couple times for 2020 cria. We should have entered him in the mature males. Thought his retained fineness and no guard hairs would impress the judge, they did but she didn't take into account his being 1 1/2 yrs older than the others. Walking fleece he took 3rd! He is such a sweet, easy to handle guy.

Socks finally had a healthy cria in 2023. She apparently doesn't take up calcium and D as well as others and refused leave the barn for half days on great pasture. The result was prolaspe vagina and then prolaspe uterus. Then 2nd cria with mild CA. Different studs. Her girl Shayla also has a superfine crimpy fleece. Socks allowed Shayla to nurse even after a 5 month weaning which resulted in her current pregnancy being small in the beginning but has now caught up. She is pregnant by our handsome high award winner DSG Primus, Socks had another super healthy cria. A boy this time who appears to be medium rose grey. Very soft. Correct conformation and already zooming around day two! No name yet. Will post his own info when we can.

Description

Bruno will be sold when weaned late winter of 2026. He is a very robust guy yet plays nice with the youngest male cria half his size. His sire has been very consistent with putting out grey though he ended his grey streak when bred to a fawn without color in her background and made a white, but a very nice white. Be sure to check out Primus' show record and his offspring. This is the first grey from the dam who is a dark rose grey. She made black last time she was bred to a msg. We call his dam Socks and she has maintained a very fine blanket with nice crimp now into her teens. She is probably my most mellow gal ever, super sweet. Primus at 10 has a very consistent micron for a buttery feel and the judges all remarked on him being the most robust looking male of the show. Still the main stud attitude in the way he carries himself but easy to handle.
